Common questions

Does Nemuri need an internet connection?
No. Nemuri works entirely offline. Once installed, it never needs a connection.

Does the audio keep playing when my screen locks?
Yes. Nemuri is designed to keep playing after you lock your phone and put it down.

What is the cognitive shuffle?
It's a technique developed by cognitive scientist Dr Luc Beaudoin at Simon Fraser University. You picture a series of unrelated, ordinary objects, one after another. Doing so is thought to interrupt the kind of connected, purposeful thinking that keeps you awake.

How do I use it?
Start a session, close your eyes, and picture each word or phrase you hear. Don't try hard — a loose, half-formed image is the point. If your mind wanders, come back to the next word.

Something isn't working.
Email [email protected] and tell me what happened, what iPhone you're using, and which iOS version. I'll get back to you.

Feedback and requests

If Nemuri helped, or didn't, I want to hear about it. It's a one-person project and messages from people using it genuinely shape what gets built next.
